The ServSafe® Manager Course is a 16 hour course. Prior to coming to class, you are to complete your home study by spending at least eight hours reviewing your study guide which is based on the updated 6th edition ServSafe Manager text book. It covers critical principles including: personal hygiene, cross contamination, time and temperature, receiving and storage, food safety management systems, training hourly employees, and more. Students will be asked to sign-in verifying that they have completed the home study prior to the classroom instruction. The remaining eight hours is covered in class and will include lecture, videos and quizzes. The ServSafe® exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions and you must receive 75% to pass the exam and receive a ServSafe® Food Safety Certificate. All tests are graded by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) and results will be available in approximately 10 business days from the date of the exam at which time you may print your certificate provided you have passed the exam.
The ServSafe®Food Handler Course is a two hour course. It is specifically designed for for entry-level professionals in the food service industry, such as servers, chefs, cooks, cashiers, and even c-store clerks. Upon successful completion of the ANSI ASTM 2659 accredited Food Handler course and 40-question exam which covers only the basic food safety principles, the employee will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the National Restaurant Association that can be printed from a secure section of the website. This course is for educational purposes only and will not satisfy your local regulatory compliance requirements.
We know that every county have specific requirements just as each establishment have their own standard operating procedures. Keep It Safe Philly can accommodate your needs because we offer more than one version of the ServSafe course. We offer the Managers course, the Food Handlers course and the Proctored Online Exam. Not every staff member will need to take the managers course, but please remember you are responsible for ensuring that your business needs, where food safety is concerned, is in compliance with your county's requirements.
The Online Exam is an option for anyone operating their business in a county that allows online training and exams. You must have taken the training already, either online or in an instructed class, and have a laptop that meets the minimum technical requirements, which can be found on the ServSafe® website. You will be given two hours to complete the 90 multiple choice question exam and results are available immediately following completion of the exam. Please note that the online exam is not acceptable in all counties and it is your responsibility to check with your local regulatory authorities to verify acceptance. Do not rely solely on information published on ServSafe's website.
